Will Harry Potter Rescue the Box Office?

With total box office receipts down 8% from last year and with June being “one of the least attended months of June on record, with only 128 million tickets sold in the U.S. and Canada, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com”, according to TheWRAP.com, we have the hopes of Hollywood riding on the shoulders of young Harry Potter. The final Potter movie opens July 15 and will be in 3D to capture the extra surcharge from tossing in an extra viewing dimension (look out, snake-lovers…). It will be a huge box office hit, based on previous movies and current reviews all praising the quality and satisfying resolution of this long-running franchise saga.

I know I’m booking my tickets for opening night and will have the Marketbob review posted Saturday.  For Hollywood, it will be a big moment and an anxious moment as they think about what they’re going to do next to replace this engine of box office bucks.
